Mrs. Sandby 18th Century Cap Pattern
Digital download of the "Mrs. Sandby" 18th century women's cap pattern, appropriate for impressions dating 1750-1770. This pattern includes directions and tips for construction of one style of 18th century cap, using hand stitching methods that are historically appropriate to the time.
This pattern is considered an “Advanced Beginner” to “Intermediate” level of difficulty. It assumes basic knowledge of sewing techniques, such as knotting threads, finishing threads, reading a pattern, using a pdf pattern, marking and pinning. Good beginner projects that will get you ready to tackle a cap with the techniques used in this pattern include shifts, aprons, and petticoats.
As with all sewing and crafting, the quality of your materials and tools is important in your overall satisfaction and even the ease of your sewing experience. High-quality materials and tools are generally easier to work with, and do not “fight” the process.
